The Design Process
At BDG Web Design we know that the thought of a website can be intimidating. There are a lot of options out there, and we want you to be comfortable with the decision you make to represent your business on the web. We believe that a simple, clean design can go a long way. Each project we take on we go through each one of the following steps to make sure that you are completely satisfied. Remember, if you look good, we look good.
The first step is the consultation. Do you have a current website that you are looking to get redesigned? Are you starting from the ground up? What benefits can a website bring your business? These are all questions that will be answered in our first meeting. There is also some homework for you as a client to do. Visit sites on the web, especially sites that are considered your competitors and write down things you like and dislike. What would you like to see on your site? We will also being doing this same research and come prepared with ideas on what we think a site in your market niche should contain. Once we get an idea of what you are looking for, we go back and build a prototype of what your website can look like. We host it on our server and give you a special URL to view it. After you review this prototype, you give us feedback and we tweak the design until it is right.
Once the design is correct and to your liking, we can start to build the content. This is where the client provides a lot of the material. Some of it can be provided by us, but this is where you tell us exactly what you want your site to say. Verbiage, photos and other information will exchange hands here and we will put it on the site.
Once the content is uploaded, we work on functionality of the site. Sometimes functionality is minimal, such as a contact form, and sometimes it is a lengthy process depending upon your needs. We will let you know how long it will take to develop the functionality so you have an idea of how long it will take. You can also view the site any time you want by using the customer URL that we provided you.
After the functionality is in place we go through a QA process with you. We test out the functionality and double check the content to make sure its to your liking. Once we are set we are ready for launch!
After we launch the site we monitor it using StatCounter and Google Analytics and tweak things as necessary to get you the best rankings in the popular search engines, such as Yahoo! Google and MSN. We inform you of the changes we make before hand. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is an ongoing task and can change if you want to target a different audience.
Once your site is up and live we also provide answers to any web-related questions you may have and we are able to do follow up work based off any agreement we may have.
